What to Expect at ALTR Performance
With Dr. Andrew Bagley, PT, DPT, ATC · Owner, Physical Therapist
This video walks you through what working with us actually looks like: the call, the assessment, the plan, and the ongoing support.
The short version: you get a real functional assessment, not a five-minute screen. Objective data on your strength, mobility, and movement quality, the same standard used to keep Division I athletes healthy.
From there we build a program around what we actually found, you run it on your own time at your own gym, and you check in with your Doctor of Physical Therapy monthly to adjust it. Direct access in between.
And if the assessment turns up something that needs hands-on care, you’ll hear that from us, too, and we’ll come up with a plan together.
Are you on a GLP-1?
Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound, Mounjaro: they work. But research consistently shows a significant share of the weight lost on these medications isn’t fat. It’s muscle.
That matters more than most people are told. Losing muscle means losing strength, losing metabolic capacity, and losing the thing that protects you from injury and keeps the weight off after you stop the medication.
Resistance training changes that outcome. When strength work is part of the plan, muscle is preserved while the fat comes off, during the medication and after it.
We don’t prescribe or manage your medication. That’s between you and your prescriber. What we do is make sure your body comes out of this stronger instead of smaller and weaker.
Or are you trying to lose weight and don’t know where to start?
Most people know they should be lifting. Far fewer know what to actually do, how much is too much, or whether their form is going to get them hurt.
Starting too hard and too fast on a body that hasn’t trained in years is the quickest way to end up injured, and injury is what ends most weight loss attempts, not willpower.
That’s the whole reason to start with a physical therapist. We assess how you actually move first, find what’s stiff, weak, or compensating, then build a program that challenges you without breaking you.
How it Works

A Doctor of Physical Therapy On Call
Monthly check-ins with your Doctor of Physical Therapy, plus direct communication access in between as your body changes.
The difference is what we’re protecting. When you’re losing weight, especially quickly, the goal isn’t just to train. It’s to hold onto everything that makes your body capable while the fat comes off.

Frequently Asked Questions
We hear these often, so here are a few answers you may be looking for!
No. That stays between you and your prescriber. We handle the strength and movement side, so the weight you lose is fat rather than the muscle underneath it.
Building muscle while losing fat can slow what the scale shows while your body composition improves, which is the outcome you actually want. We track more than bodyweight so you can see what’s really changing.
That’s precisely the risk we’re addressing. Muscle is what protects your metabolic capacity, and people who come off these medications having preserved it are in a far better position than people who lost it along with the fat.

The people who end up filling this out are rarely in the worst pain of their life. They’re just done working around it, done picking the errand that doesn’t require the stairs. If that’s the stage you’re at, this is the part where you stop researching and start.
Consider it filed.
