What to Expect at ALTR Performance

With Dr. Andrew Bagley, PT, DPT, ATC - Owner, Physical Therapist

We know you probably have questions before you pick up the phone. This video walks you through exactly what to expect from working with us — from the first call, to your evaluation, to the plan we build for you.

Every session is one-on-one with your doctor of physical therapy. No aides. No rotating staff. No twenty-minute slots where someone hands you a sheet of exercises and moves on to the next person.

You'll have total access to your PT between visits, so when something changes or a question comes up, you're not waiting two weeks for your next appointment to ask it.

And if what's going on turns out to need more than physical therapy, we will tell you that up front. We would rather make sure you get the care you need than waste your time. So, what's the risk?

Why Concussion Symptoms Stick Around

A concussion is a brain injury, but the symptoms that linger — the fog, the balance trouble, the sensitivity to light, the headaches that won't quit — are often mechanical. Your eyes aren't tracking right. Your vestibular system isn't recalibrating. Your neck is stiff from bracing. Your proprioception is off. Rest doesn't fix any of that.

And there's the invisible part nobody talks about: the fear. You're worried about re-injury. You're cautious about movement because you're not sure what's safe. You feel behind. You used to move like yourself and now every activity is a calculation — will this trigger a symptom?

Most concussion protocols are rest-heavy and return-to-play focused, which is important if you're an athlete. But if you're not — if you just want to think clearly, exercise without symptoms, work without the afternoon fog — that framework doesn't serve you. You need graduated, intelligent movement, not permission to do nothing.

We rebuild what a concussion scrambled

  • Restore normal eye tracking and visual stability
  • Recalibrate your balance and spatial awareness
  • Clear brain fog through graded aerobic work
  • Reduce light and sound sensitivity
  • Rebuild confidence in movement
  • Clear the path to full activity without symptoms

Frequently Asked Questions

We hear these often, so here are a few answers you may be looking for!

Fix My Concussion Recovery
  • How long does concussion recovery actually take?

It depends on the severity and how long you've been dealing with it. Most uncomplicated concussions improve significantly within a few weeks of the right intervention. If it's been months, recovery is slower but still possible — brain neuroplasticity doesn't have an expiration date. We'll give you a realistic timeline based on what we find in your evaluation.

  • I've been told to rest. Won't movement make it worse?

Complete rest actually slows recovery. The right kind of graded movement — starting gentle and building intelligently — is what tells your brain to recalibrate. We're careful about what, when, and how much, but "do nothing" is not a good long-term strategy.

  • I still have symptoms months later. Is this permanent?

Almost never. Post-concussion syndrome responds well to targeted intervention, especially vestibular rehab and graded aerobic work. The longer it's been, the more patience the timeline requires, but people recover from long-standing symptoms regularly.
