What to Expect at ALTR Performance

With Dr. Andrew Bagley, PT, DPT, ATC - Owner, Physical Therapist

We know you probably have questions before you pick up the phone. This video walks you through exactly what to expect from working with us — from the first call, to your evaluation, to the plan we build for you.

Every session is one-on-one with your doctor of physical therapy. No aides. No rotating staff. No twenty-minute slots where someone hands you a sheet of exercises and moves on to the next person.

You'll have total access to your PT between visits, so when something changes or a question comes up, you're not waiting two weeks for your next appointment to ask it.

And if what's going on turns out to need more than physical therapy, we will tell you that up front. We would rather make sure you get the care you need than waste your time. So, what's the risk?

Why Vertigo and Dizziness Keep Happening

The room spins. Or you do. Or you just feel off-balance and can't name why. BPPV, vestibular neuritis, post-viral dizziness, "just getting older" — whatever the label, the underlying issue is almost always mechanical: your inner ear system isn't sending clear signals, your eyes aren't tracking right, or your brain isn't integrating balance information correctly.

What makes it worse is the cascade. You get dizzy, so you move less. You move less, so your balance system deconditions. You become more cautious. Your vestibular system gets less input. And the dizziness stays or gets worse because the system that's supposed to fix itself never gets the stimulus it needs.

Most people get either medication that masks the symptom or a vague instruction to "be careful" — which means they stay afraid, keep moving less, and the problem compounds. The mechanical problems that cause vertigo respond to specific rehab. You don't have to live with this.

We Retrain Your Balance System

  • Identify whether the problem is your inner ear, your eyes, or your movement integration
  • Perform targeted maneuvers for BPPV if that's what's happening
  • Restore normal eye-head coordination
  • Rebuild balance confidence through graded challenges
  • Clear dizziness with vestibular-specific exercises
  • Return to normal activity without the fear

Frequently Asked Questions

We hear these often, so here are a few answers you may be looking for!

Fix My Vertigo
  • I have BPPV. Can physical therapy really fix it?

Yes. BPPV is one of the most treatable forms of dizziness — specific maneuvers move the crystals in your inner ear back to where they belong, and most people feel dramatically better within a few sessions. We test for it directly and treat it if that's what we find.

  • What if it's not BPPV? What if I don't know what's causing the dizziness?

That's fine — most people don't. We have tests that narrow down whether it's your inner ear, your eyes, your neck, your strength, or how your brain is integrating balance information. Once we know, we know how to fix it.

  • I've had this for months and nothing has helped. Is it too late?

No. Even long-standing dizziness responds to the right intervention because your vestibular system is designed to recalibrate. It just needs the right input. Recovery is usually slower the longer you've been dealing with it, but people get better from years of dizziness regularly.
